A win-win situation
To the giver. To the receiver. To the winner.
When people asks me what do I do (the question points to a job, in most cases), I take a little pause and think which of the two would be the best answer. Either, I am writer during my free time or an active volunteer.
To tell you the truth, it is harder to say that you are a volunteer and more so, an active volunteer. A member of a non-profit organization and had been with the rotarians in the Philippines.
In my own perception, belonging to a certain group doing services for others for free is a privilege that we get when people trust us in whatever circumstances it may be.
The following social voluntary services tops the list based on my observation.
Cooking / preparing meals is one of them. Giving a special talk or seminar. Being a language teacher. Sports / coaching children a particular
sport. Participating in medical missions. Rescue missions like firefighters or sea rescuers. Visiting families. In some cases, writing is also a good way to reach people and encourage others to experience being a volunteer in any way they can.
To some extent, it could be also be arranging a program for a week like the summer vacation "sommerlejr" for a number of single mothers or fathers with children including the refugees living in Denmark. Annie and Lisbeth whom I have been on two consecutive sommerlejr of Family Network FamileNet in Fredensborg municipality. Annie, being the chairman of Dansk Folkehjælp and Lisbeth as the secretary. I must say that they are energetic despite their age over 65.
The experience of being a volunteer
is rewarding in many ways. You get to see different places, beautiful attractions like museums and zoo together with these families you gather in the span of one year.
After some time, people will recognize you for what you can do instead of where you are from or the status you have. We must also remember that volunteer work is not something you are obliged to do, but something you dedicate yourself into if you can or if you have the time for it.
You build connections in many forms.
They do not need to be the same age, education and profession as you are. The primary goal is to be able to work as a team. Volunteering works best in groups or under a foundation since it is more organized and budget is given to each department in order to conduct the projects that are approved for implementation. We learn something from one another and accomplish better results.
of the active volunteers in Denmark are the elderly people. After they retire, they join different groups where their skills could be of use and it is a good way to socialize and keep them active.
Jeg giver nogle og jeg får så meget tilbage.
I give something and I received so much in return.
Giving in its different wonderful forms:
1. Sharing what we have like the material things.
2. Lending an ear; listening to others.
We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.
3. Participating in volunteer work / organizations.
There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. - 1 Corinthians 12:5-6

Giving is like planting ang harvesting it is similar to receiving.

Hi. This blogsite is not an advertising firm. I solely own it and it is my pleasure to write, share, learn and help in promoting the care for our environment
in my special way. The people, incidents and things that I feature are meant to serve awareness to young people and to everybody around the globe. :)
My willingness to be better at writing and research has pushed me to have my own webpage. I am trying very hard to find subjects that are relevant to the main topics under Blooming Etiquette- culture, technology and Green environment.
